Hi, my name is Deborah
When I was in the sixth grade, I came to the HKBP East Bandung church to attend the Sunday School service. As I entered the church yard, the atmosphere was already lively with children arriving from different directions. Some came with their parents, while others quickly joined their friends inside the building. In the worship room, several Sunday School leaders were preparing the songs, simple musical instruments, and story materials that would be used during the service. That day felt special to me because I had been given the opportunity to serve as an offering attendant. Even though I had done this task before, I still felt a little nervous since I wanted to carry it out properly. Despite the nervousness, I also felt happy and proud to be involved in this small but meaningful part of the Sunday School ministry.

The service began when one of the Sunday School leaders invited us to stand and sing the opening song. The cheerful melody created a warm and joyful atmosphere in the room. After singing and praying together, we listened to the Bible story prepared for that day. The leader told us about giving with a sincere and grateful heart. They explained that an offering is not about the amount we give, but about our willingness and love for God. Hearing this made me understand even more that the offering time is an important moment in the service, not just a routine activity.
When it was time for the offering, I was called along with two other friends to come forward. We received the offering bags and began walking slowly around the room following the rhythm of the offering song. The children placed their offerings into the bags one by one some with big smiles, some shyly, but still giving with sincerity. I tried to keep my steps steady and pay attention to what I was doing so everything would go smoothly. After we finished going around the room, we returned to the front and handed the offering bags to the leader who was in charge of the altar. Although the moment seemed simple, it felt meaningful and gave me a sense of joy and pride.

Serving as an offering attendant made me feel closer to God and more connected to the Sunday School service. I realized that even as a Sunday School child, I could still take part in meaningful ministry. This experience helped me grow more confident and motivated to come to church every week. I hope to continue serving in the future and keep growing in faith and responsibility.
